I’ve shared my home selling and buying journey for several weeks, but these past few weeks, I was reminded to continue to trust God even when you think it’s time to retake control.  It’s been amazing process as God found us the perfect home to buy in this crazy real estate market, but as soon as we got the deal, I was ready to take charge once again.  It was amazing how quickly I got totally stressed while focusing on the remodeling part of this process.  All of a sudden, it was like God never provided the miracle, as I was overwhelmed with all the moving parts that I felt that I had to pull together.  I realized how quick I am to take back the reigns. Who’s in Control Here? While we want to answer, “Me!”, the only person in control of anything is God as the verse below reminds us.

Proverbs 19:21 (NIV)

21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

So, What… for This Week?

If you think YOU are in control, think again.  If you feel out of control, it’s because you are. If you find yourself walking around worn out and frustrated, there’s a chance it’s because you are trying to control everything or everyone around you. Control is the enemy of rest. When things feel out of control, our tendency is to hold tighter, grip harder, or work more. But Jesus explains that the opposite is true. He wants us to come to Him, with open hands and hearts and surrender to Him. He will meet where we are, and show us how to live, love and lead like He does as He becomes our ultimate rest.
