I’ve been talking a lot lately about choosing to learn, instead of judging. In order to do that, we need to ask more questions to better understand those we would normally JUDGE. As I was studying John 8: 1-11, I noticed Jesus did the same thing with the Pharisees as they were accusing the woman caught in adultery. Instead of judging the Pharisees, OR the woman, Jesus simply chose a different perspective (see John 8:7 below)…“Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” With that one statement, Jesus showed no judgement and forced the Pharisees to take a totally different stance.
John 8:7 (NIV)
7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”
So, What… for This Week?
Choose to learn and not to judge. Choose to forgive and not be offended. Jesus shows us example after example about how to take the learner path, instead of falling into the “judger pit!” You may need to choose that path 100 times a day, but your life will be MUCH more PEACEFUL if you do!
