I’ve been talking a lot about giving up control and trying to be more positive.  The root of the problem for me has been the inability to receive the fullness of God’s love.  God wants to give us more love than we are often ready to receive.  Most of us don’t feel worthy.  We still think we need to earn God’s love, even though He gives it freely. God’s love is how we experience freedom–freedom in all capacities. Freedom for our minds and our hearts. In the verse below, Paul reminds of how nothing can separate us from God’s love.

Romans 8:38-39 (NLT)

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow–not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below–indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

So, What… for This Week?

Isn’t that promise amazing? And yet, while God loves us with abundant love, He does not force us into experiencing it or even acknowledging it. You see, even though Holy Spirit lives in us from the moment we first accept Christ in our hearts, we only experience the freedom He offers to the extent that we surrender, receive God’s love, and trust Him completely.  Are you doing that?
