I’m reading a secular book called, “Change Your Questions Change Your Life.” In the book there is an exercise using a “CHOICE MAP” (see attached) and it really opened my mind as God has set me on the path to listen more and talk less. According to this book (and the Bible), there are TWO paths we can take with choices (and minute-by-minute decisions). The first (and the one I most often take) is that of JUDGEMENT which ultimately leads to frustration, anger and the “Judgement Pit!” On the other hand, we can take the “LEARNER PATH” and keep an open mind, ask more questions and refuse to JUDGE OTHERS! Hum, I think the writer is on to something here! The beauty is that we ALL take the Judger Path from time to time, BUT God has a built in “cut through” called “switching lanes!” The choice is not only to take the Learner Path, but to keep close accounts of your judgement and choose to SWITCH LANES as many times a day as it takes to get on and stay on the Learner Path!
Matthew 7:1-3 (NIV)
Judging Others
7 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
What choice path are YOU on? Chances are that you live quite a bit of time on the JUDGER PATH. It’s not an easy path to get off of, but if you decide to make decisions to switch paths as many times a day as you need to, YOU CAN REWIRE YOUR BRAIN!
I hope this helps and you’ll take more time this week with God!
Love you!
Have a great week!
