Look to God, NOT Others…to determine YOUR priorities! Last week, I talked about leading a balanced life and in order to do that, we need to relook at our priorities. Jesus is the BEST example, as He determined His priorities by spending time with the God the Father. Look carefully at the verse below in Mark 1:35 – 36: Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there. Simon and his companions searched for Him; they found Him, and said to Him…
Mark 1:37-38 (NIV)
Jesus Prays in a Solitary Place
37 Everyone is looking for you!” 38 Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.”
So, What… for This Week?
How could Jesus walk away from needs that only He could meet? Because the Father had different priorities for Jesus than simply a healing ministry. Even though the people would have preferred Jesus to choose differently, He determined instead to please the Father. Accordingly, Jesus was misunderstood, rejected, even crucified—and yet, He was successful. If we could find MORE time to spend with God, we could make adjustments in OUR schedules when He calls us to do so. In order to start getting direction from God, you need to start spending more time with Him! Great leadership starts with focused relationships and there is NO other relationship more important than the one we have with Jesus!
