As I try to focus more on allowing God to control my life, I realize that one of the things that keeps my heart distant from Him is my innate negativity. I’ve struggled with being sarcastic all my life. It’s funny, right? Not always, especially when that sarcasm is at the cost of someone else’s expense. I mentioned several weeks ago about how “anxiety” in my life led me to cut out a lot of things, like streaming TV channels that I used to feed my head with lots of junk. Victoria and I have been trying hard to not say anything negative to each other, or ABOUT anyone else. Wow, it’s tough. Until you try and stop, you may not even realize you’re doing it. The verse below talks about how stubborn we can get, as we are unwilling to change.
Proverbs 29:1 (MSG)
If People Can’t See What God Is Doing
29
For people who hate discipline
and only get more stubborn,
There’ll come a day when life tumbles in and they break,
but by then it’ll be too late to help them.
So, What… for This Week?
If you stay stuck doing what you are doing, and maintain a negative lifestyle, eventually, “life tumbles” and “breaks!” Usually, we are negative because we haven’t really trusted God, and accepted our identity as His chosen children. After all, what do we really have to be negative about? Jesus did everything for us by dying on the Cross. If we live fully surrendered lives to Christ, we have nothing to complain about!
