When I talk about control and fear, I realize in my life, I’ve lived that way because I really didn’t trust God.  I really didn’t think He loved me and always had to prove myself to Him and others. Part of the reason I’ve had to deal with anxiety is because of that lack of trust.  When you ONLY trust in yourself, you’ll eventually self-destruct.  In fact trusting in yourself is all about PRIDE.  I know that hurts, but it’s the hard truth that I’ve had to come to grips with.  Steven Furtick shared a message I heard lately on anxiety and he mentioned that the middle of anxiety it “I.”  The middle of PRIDE is also “I.”  I remember coaches telling me there is NO “I” in team and I think God is saying the same thing…There is NO “I” in trusting God!

Proverbs 11:2 (NLT)

Pride leads to disgrace,
    but with humility comes wisdom.

So, What… for This Week?

How much is YOUR pride getting in the way of your faith?  Are you trusting yourself and your logic over God and the small voice of the Holy Spirit?  This week, do a PRIDE audit and engage a spouse or friend to help you unpack your “trust meter.”
