As we go through the process of selling our house and try to put God first, step out of “comfort” and trust Him with everything, God reminded me that only HE is our “FOREVER home,” not our earthly dwelling!…We put so much emphasis on our homes. They can consume us, identify us and overtake us if we let them. “Keeping up with the Jones’s” is a real life phenomenon. For me, I spent SO much time on my yard over the years, that I missed out on what is more important…RELATIONSHIPS! If I put the time into relationships that I put into keeping up my yard (and with the neighbors), I’d be a much RICHER man! One of the reasons I wanted to sell our house was also to lighten my responsibilities and not have an excuse to isolate myself by focusing more on the “projects” I have to do around my house!
2 Corinthians 5:1 (NIV)
Awaiting the New Body
5 For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.
So, What… for This Week?
You may not want to sell your house to get less busy, but I’m sure there are some things you can “unload” to give you the opportunity to focus on the things that are most important in your life. When we start to become LESS busy, and more focused on what God wants, we can’t help to have more peaceful and fulfilled life!
