We’re excited to introduce you to Patrice Smith, a woman of faith with a passion for creative ministry. Patrice, alongside her husband Mark, leads a remarkable performing arts ministry called “Potter’s Players.” But this isn’t just any performing arts group; it’s a ministry with a profound purpose. Patrice shared her extraordinary process of writing and developing their ministry productions. She emphasized that their work isn’t merely a product of human creativity, but rather a divine partnership with God. When they write, it’s as if they’re taking divine dictation, guided by inspiration from the Holy Spirit.
Their latest production, “This Christmas Majesty,” focuses on family dynamics, real-life struggles, and the profound impact of Jesus in our lives. The play explores the intricacies of a three-generation family coming together to prepare for their youngest granddaughter’s role as an angel in a church Christmas play.
The story unfolds as the family is asked to consider one thing they’d desire for Christmas, with the condition that it can’t be something they can buy or earn. Their responses reveal the complexity of human emotions, from a teenage daughter’s emotional struggles to family members dealing with divorce.
Patrice highlighted that the play within the play is centered on Jesus, as He is the answer to all the struggles depicted in the family dynamics. The production takes the audience on an incredible journey, from before creation to the fall and Christ’s ultimate sacrifice. Patrice mentioned the divine visions she received about the grandeur and majesty of Jesus, beautifully portrayed in the play.
Isaiah 12:5 (NIV)
