I hope you took time last week and learned YOUR “go-to” weapon system.  As the verse below shares, a small spark in and through us can start a great forest fire. Without our awareness of that weapon system, added grace and self-control, we are likely to go on the attack.  Knowing what triggers us, and those around us, is essential in creating peace in our lives.  In essence, we should NOT pull out the heavy artillery because something triggers us.  Check out the verse below, and ask yourself if YOU are “perfect!”

James 3:2 & 5 (NIV)

We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.

Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.

So, What… for This Week?

Pray that God teaches you how to respond with wisdom, instead of attacking, or even playing the “victim” when others pull out THEIR weapon system on YOU.  It’s time to learn to respond to others in your life, rather than reacting.  My wife, Victoria, is great at letting me know how I can better handle my communication with her.  She challenged me lately by saying that, “I can’t change her, but I can still lead her!” Wow, that was profound and I really needed to hear that for all areas of my life!
