I hope you spent some time last week praying for the Holy Spirit to show you your strongholds.  If you want to simplify the process, think about where you have that one weakness, bad habit, or rotten attitude. Where does the devil have a stronghold on you? Our weapons to break them are from God, as He has the divine power to demolish strongholds (and He’s given that power to US). If you’re not hearing from the Holy Spirit as you try to pray to break these strongholds, you may be asking the WRONG QUESTIONS of God!  You may also have to ask others to help you. I know I did!  Everything inside you maybe saying… “Keep the struggle a secret. Wear a mask, hide the pain.” God says just the opposite in James 5:16, “Make this your common practice: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed.”

2 Corinthians 10:3-6 (NIV)

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.

So, What… for This Week?

Maybe it is time to get drastic. I’ve had to change my schedule, submit to a counselor for authority, add some relaxing techniques at night to make sure I “turn down” a notch before going to bed, talk to Victoria more about my feelings (that I didn’t even know existed) and the list goes on and on.  Once you understand what your strongholds are, you need to willing to make some drastic changes to break them.  Oh, and remember Ephesians 1:19-20,“God’s power is very great for us who believe. That power is the same as the great strength God used to raise Christ from the dead and put him at his right side in the heavenly world.” Ask for help. Get drastic. Try a fresh approach. Who knows, you may be a prayer away from a breakthrough.
